Food Preservation 101: Zucchini Relish
Food Preservation 101 Series: Zucchini Relish
With rising food prices, saving money while still finding healthy and delicious food is becoming more challenging than ever. Meanwhile, the average Canadian household wastes 79 kg of food annually, and the country wastes on average 46% of all food. Preventing food waste is a simple action that individuals can take to increase food sovereignty and food security. And food preservation is one of the best ways to prevent food waste, especially during the fall harvest season, when produce is plentiful and at its peak!
To create an accessible way to learn about food preservation, Earth's Refillery Co-op, Edmonton Horticultural Society, and New Grocery Movement are holding a 3-part Food Preservation Series!
The second class we learn about canning sauces. Participants will learn about food safety, how to replicate this easy method at home, and take home a couple jars of zucchini relish. We will be providing all of the tools and vegetables needed for the class.
Our last workshop is planned for the following dates, with more details to come: Mon Oct 05 (Crab Apple Preserve)

Harcourt House Party Fundraiser
Join us for the Harcourt House Party Fundraiser 🎉 and help support the artists, programs, and creative community that make Harcourt House a pillar of the Edmonton art scene!
Enjoy an evening of live painting by local artists, a silent auction, 50/50 draw, interactive art stations, and the opportunity to create your own artwork from live models. DJ Nathan Panousis will be providing the soundtrack for the evening, while Sea Change Brewing and Shiddy's Distilling keep the drinks flowing. Delicious finger foods from Rigoletto's will also be available throughout the night.
This adults-only event is a chance to connect with Edmonton's vibrant arts community, celebrate local creativity, and support one of the city's longest-standing artist-run centres.
The Harcourt House Party will take place at Co*Lab in downtown Edmonton. We can't wait to celebrate with you!

iHuman’s Annual Art Walk is a two-day celebration invites Edmonton to experience youth-created art, and see how belonging and opportunity can be part of the solution to youth homelessness.
kisiskâciwani-sîpiy - Plant Teachings with Myra LaFrance-Goodeagle
NOTE: This event is sold out.
Join Ociciwan Contemporary Art Centre for a land-based learning experience with Knowledge Keeper Myra LaFrance-Goodeagle in Edmonton's River Valley. Beginning at Ociciwan, participants will walk together to the area near the Tawatinâ Bridge, where Myra will share teachings about plants, responsible gathering practices, and our relationships with the land.
Through walking, observation, and conversation, participants will be invited to consider the land as a teacher and to reflect on the responsibilities that come with gathering from it. Myra will share teachings about approaching the land with respect and reciprocity.
This free workshop is part of kisiskâciwani-sîpiy, Ociciwan's land-based workshop series exploring the North Saskatchewan River Valley through art, conversation, and community. Donations are optional but welcome! Space is limited to 15 participants. Please register on Eventbrite to reserve your spot.

Myra LaFrance-Goodeagle is a Plains Cree / Blackfoot woman born and raised in Treaty 6 and Treaty 7. Her teachings come from four generations of matriarchs, community Elders, and her lifelong relationship with Mother Earth. As the creator of Buffalo Lodge Cultural Society, teacher, social worker, and mentor, Myra brings together land-based learning, cultural knowledge, and community teaching in her work. She describes her approach as one grounded in the understanding that we walk as four directional beings, together.

Ociciwan is pleased to present kisiskâciwani-sîpiy, a series of land-based workshops taking place throughout the summer and autumn in Edmonton's River Valley. Across a number of sessions, participants are invited to gather with artists, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers. kisiskâciwani-sîpiy drives connection through walks, conversations, and creative activities that deepen our relationships with the river and the land.

Accessibility notes: This program takes place outdoors in Edmonton's River Valley. Participants will walk from Ociciwan to the workshop site and spend portions of the workshop outdoors. Please wear weather-appropriate clothing, bring water, and be prepared for changing outdoor conditions. More detailed information about the walking route and site will be provided to registered participants.
This project is funded through the FIRE Grant Program (Funding Indigenous Resurgence in Edmonton) from the Edmonton Heritage Council.

RE:VITA’s monthly cleanups are one of the simplest — and most important — things they do.
The cleanups aren’t just about tidying streets. They’re about showing care for place, building pride, and creating low-barrier ways for people to show up for Chinatown together. Cleanups always end with shared meals and conversations that often spark new ideas and relationships.

Soil Succession Workshop
Come and learn how to make the best soil for the plants you want to grow in your from a garden master composter and master gardener.
Our master gardener and master composter will show us how to provide the best and correct soil conditions to grow the foods you want to grow in your soil.
Some plants like full sun, some like partial shade, some like lots of moisture while others like it a little on the dry side. Certain plants like different soil conditions and with this knowledge we can help our plants thrive.
The status quo of simply adding a generic fertilizer with high N-P-K numbers are counter productive for good soil health, especially long-term.
Feed the soil corrtly and the plants will grow well.
Our very knowledgeable workshop presenter is a master composter and master gardener. Come and learn and grow!
Our cafe will be open for beverages and food until 6:30pm.

Thoughtful Tuesday is a film/documentary screening series hosted and curated by Earth's Refillery & Cafe Coop. As a community, we watch a film/documentary, and then discuss what we watched, what we felt, and how that will inspire us to act.
Coffee, tea, drinks, and food will be available for purchase until 6pm.

Green Shack Program
The Green Shack Program is a free program hosted by the City of Edmonton. Each day of the week you will get active and experience a variety of crafts, games, sports, and free play! The program is targeted for children aged 6-12, but all children accompanied by an adult are welcome to attend.

We are excited to announce the Edmonton Downtown Farmers Market will be open FRIDAYS 11am - 5pm starting October 7! FREE 2 hour parking located at the back of the building.
